What?

In our class on September 25th, our big idea of the week was surrounding teacher resources. We talked about creating our own, sharing them with others and finding others resources that we can use while also making sure they receive the credit by using their resources. Websites like teachers pay teachers can be helpful to share your own resources or finding a specific resource that you need in your class. I also really like the websites like Canva. Canva supplies templates that make it incredibly easy to make your own activities that you can use in your class to make the resources look interesting while applying it to your own learnings within their classroom. While using online resources, it is also important to make sure that you are following copyrights. Make sure that you are giving the proper credit to other teachers and resources is very important. I will 100% be making sure that I give credit to teachers if I use their resources as that would be something that I would hope others would do for my work.

So What?

These websites can be very helpful for teachers in their classrooms. At many points, teachers will have a lot going on in their school lives and their personal lives. Websites like Teachers Pay Teachers and Canva are two of the sites that I will probably use the most in my classroom. The resources that are provided on these pages are easy access to teachers and easy to use and make your own. I think that having resources that are engaging for your students allows them to have more drive towards learning. I want to make sure that if my students have to do a worksheet it is not just a white piece of paper with some basic font and just simply the task that they have to complete. It is so important to keep your students engaged in their learning to allow them to want to continue learning.

Now What?

After this presentation, I would like to experiment with all of the different resources that I will have access to and will be using as a teacher. I believe that if I work with these different resources now, I will be able to better use them when I really need them as a teacher. Overcoming roadblocks now will make the life of a teacher with technology much easier when needed. Technology within teachers can be a huge roadblock to overcoming. Working with these technologies now can provide an advantage to you and your students to make sure that you can use the resources to their full potential when needed.

What?

The big idea of our lecture on September 18th was surrounded around the importance of data privacy and professional practice. As technology becomes more popular within classrooms we all need to be extra cautious around how we use technology as well as student and teacher data privacy. As future teachers, we need to be cautious about how we use technology and social media within and outside of school. We also need to make sure that we are educating our students in technology safety and how we can use technology to benefit us rather than risking our safety.

So What?

Educating students on digital privacy and safety is key. However, it is also important for teachers to be aware of our privacy and safety online. As a future teacher, I want to make sure that I am allowing my students to be educated on the information to keep them safe. This website that was attached in the presentation, K-5 Family Tips: Privacy and Security, is something that I will be sharing with my future students and their families. I will share the Freedom of Information and Protection Privacy Act guidelines as well with my students and prepare an activity to go along with the lesson. I will also make sure that I am covering these ideas within the classroom as well. Many students enjoy playing online games were you are able to message or talk with people online. I believe that we need to make sure that students are being safe on platforms like this. I believe that it is super important to share internet safety tips with the students and their families to ensure that they are staying safe on platforms that us as adults may not be able to control.

Now What?

After the class on online privacy and safety and the Freedom of Information and Protection Privacy Act (FIPPA), I will make sure that I am allowing my students time and space to learn internet safety. I will also make sure that as the teacher myself I will make sure that I am careful of what I post myself online and how my name is represented. I will make sure that my personal social media is private and not allow access for my students or their families to see my personal life. I will do this because I believe that it is very important for teachers to have a personal life and a work life. Something like this is also important for a teachers health and safety. Teachers should be able to have their own lives outside of school and work, it is the only way teachers will be able to succeed. Being safe online is something that we all lack education about making it something that I make sure I educate my students in my future classroom
